The Rose Sisters appears in black and white line art in the anthology “Once Upon A Time<\/a>.” But I offered a colored version for the book launch release party, which is due June 19th. I imported my line art into Adobe Photoshop after colorizing it to a deep tan.<\/p>\n

For coloring of the Rose Sisters, I start with flat local color.<\/p>\n

Once flat color is done I move on to textures and shading. I find starting with the faces for each character helps. It brings each woman’s personality into focus.<\/p>\n

Costuming and hair comes next. On to the peripheral details like the “J” and the eagle. And last but not least, all those roses. Red for “Rose Red” and white for “Snow White.”<\/p>\n
